One year

My family's hands on Callen's Drum

One year ago today my world was turned upside down.  And while I am still struggling to find the top again, I am slowly getting there.  I miss Callen more than I will ever be able to express is words .  He was an amazing brother, friend, and person.  Truly looking for the good in others and taking on most challenges in life as an adventure.

Hopefully I can take some of that adventure spirit and apply it in the next couple weeks.  Today I put in my two week notice at work!  Mike put in his last Thursday.  We are moving to North Dakota, (so I will have to rename my blog.)  Mike has landed a job as a Police Officer!!!  (I am so proud of him.) And I will be accepting a job with the North Dakota Department of Transportation.  I am so excited to be moving back closer to family.  We will be a 12 hour drive from our parents and Mike even has family in the town we are moving to!!  We are so blessed that Mike found this job and that I was able to secure not one but two job offers in the same town with in 2 weeks of applying for jobs in the area.  I know for sure that Callen had a hand in making everything fall into place.

These next couple weeks will be very stressful packing, saying good bye to the many friend we have in Alaska, and driving the Al-Can in March.  My parents will be helping us drive the 2,600 miles from Anchorage to our new town.  Please keep us in your prayer not only today as we remember Callen, but in the weeks to come as we start our new adventure.

I so wish I could be in Minnesota today to hug, cry and remember with family and friends.  But I send my love from the north and can't wait to see you all soon.

Love you so so much Callen.

Weekend Review

This weekend was AWESOME!! Friday Mike and I went to Kohl's and Target. My favorite stores! And then just hung out.

Saturday I had my first FLL meeting. We had 5 girls who all seem really nice and excited about the season! We expect 2-3 more to join. Then Mike and I went and worked out. I ran, he did the elliptical and then we did our sit ups for the day (we are doing this challenge http://www.twohundredsitups.com/).

Then we got dressed to go out to dinner. It was so good. We had not had steak in a long time. I had a Fillet Mignon and Mike had a Bone in Rib Eye. We also shared a Cesar Salad, some bread, and had a berry ice cream for dessert. When I made the reservations I had written a note that it was our Anniversary so we got the ice cream for free, had rose petals on the table, along with a little card saying Happy Anniversary. After dinner we went to Samantha and Hans house for a game of Life.

Yesterday we slept in then went to Church with Samantha and Jacob. Went out to lunch with them at IHOP, I had nutella Crepes with Bananas and Strawberries, really good minus some of the Strawberries being frozen. Then Mike and I went home. Mike sat on the couch and watched foot ball while I made 2 dozen rolls and hemmed his pants, (that we bought in MN in April). I had been being to do it for a while. And did it just in time for him to wear them to the LION KING!! So at 4ish we headed back for to Samantha and Hans house for an amazing dinner of Ribs, baked potatoes, salad, strawberries, and rolls. WE WERE STUFFED! Han's mom was over to watch Jacob and four of us went to the Lion King.

The Lion King was AMAZING. I have been talking about going forever and it surpassed my expectation. In first scene "the Circle of Life" they have tons of animals walk down the isle, including a life size elephant, which has one person in each leg (4 people total for you not so good at math). The music, costuming, acting, and dancing were all amazing. Mike and Hans even really enjoyed it. And Mike is not really the play going guy. I however would not pay for a 3 year old to see it, yes there were some there. The costumes/ puppets for the the Lions, Timon, Pumba, and Hyenas were amazing. If we had the money to do so I would go to it again, there was so much going on, I am sure I missed a ton.

We had a great First Anniversary. I will post some picture of us all dressed up some time!

DOWL HKM

One year ago today I was my first full day of work at DOWL Engineers. It has gone so fast while I feel like have have been at in Alaska for a year I can not believe that I have worked as an Engineer for a Year. I have learned so much but still feel that I have so much more to learn at the same time. I have worked on the Juneau International Airport, King Salmon Airport, Fairbanks Airport and numerous other small projects. It is a great place to start my career.

Dinner

Last night we were going to go to the Glacier Brew House. But the Wait. was. TWO. hours. and we were hungry. So we wandered around down town and decided on going into the Rum Runners Bar and Grill. It was really good. The picture is a picture of us next to the classic bear down town Anchorage.

Of course there we had a some bumps in the road but all and all it was an uneventful year. I love living with Mike!
To celebrate one year of living together we are going out to eat at the Glacier Brew House Downtown Anchorage. This past year has gone by so fast. We went have been back to MN twice once to get married is September and then again in April for a visit. I hope in this next year more people will come visit us in Alaska.
