Almost May

I cannot believe that it will be May 1st on Friday. Where did April go? The good thing about May coming is that it is starting to warm up. It is supposed to get up to 57 today!!! HEAT WAVE! Java loves that it is warm out because when we are home we open the porch door. She loves to be outside looking around, however she also like to eat the carpet stuff that is on the porch and hang over the edge to see what is going on.
I started riding my bike to work on Tuesday, I have had no more incidences with garden hoses! We biked last night, went and see baby Jacob and his parents... he is sooo cute. He has started opening his eyes a little more and really looking around to see what is going on.
Tonight we have church, tomorrow we have softball practice for the church team, and Friday we have dinner for nine with our group from church. Sounds like it is going to be a churchy week :)

Weekend Summary
We did not do much this weekend. Mike worked. We did go out to the Spenard Roadhouse on Friday with a couple we met at church, who are also from Minnesota. It was really good and we can walk to it! Megan ran around most of the day Saturday, did Week 1 day 3 of the C25K, and then scrapbooked (still working on the wedding.) I hope to have it finished before July but we will see. Sunday was church, working out, more scrapbooking, and then I made some bread...yummy! Not much planned for this week. We have Youth group Wednesday and our dinner for 9 group on Friday night for church.

Thursday
Mike is back at work today. Working the day shift which is nice. Last night we had church. We help out with the Senior High Youth Group on Wednesdays. It is fun but challenging at the same time. We also had a meeting before hand for the 5/5 (5 girls, 5 guys) softball team that we joined at the church. We will be playing on Tuesday nights. I am excited to start playing softball again, since it has been since about 8th or 9th grade that I have played. Mike has always wanted to play on a softball team so it should be fun!! After church we went to the gym and I did Week 1 day 2 of the Couch to 5-k it was not too bad even with my left side being sore.
OK and update on my injuries. I have a very large and sore bruise on my left hip/thigh. The scrape on my ankle continues to be annoying, not allowing me to wear socks. And my elbow has a lovely purple bruise on it. What is really annoying is that I normally sleep on my left side. So it is hard to fall asleep and if I try to turn over in the night I wake up. Oh well at least there are no broken bones.
We plan to go to the gym again tonight, it is supposed to rain here or we would go for a walk. I am making hamburgers for dinner, with veggies and beans.
(Oh Mike painted the living room yesterday!! The color is Manhattan Mist, it is a light grey. So much better then all the cream the apartment is painted now. I will post some pictures later.)

Tuesday Night
So tonight when I got off work I biked to Samantha and Hans to meet Mike. We hung out, watched some hockey, and had some pizza for dinner. At about 7, we left and went for a bike ride. Our first long ride of the season, 10 miles. It started off great. I got new pedals and a new back basket for my bike on Saturday. Mike got a new rear fender for his new bike. About 1/3 of the way through the ride we were approaching a man washing his sidewal
k. Mike went past fine and made it over the hose. Then I got to the hose and all the sudden I was sliding along the ground. I was so embarrassed I just got back on my bike... slowly gave mike the basket that fell off the bike and started riding again. About a mile down the road I finally stopped. I have a huge bruise on my left elbow, a raspberry on my left thigh and a really good scrape on my ankle. We made it just past earth quake park, where we saw a moose about 15 feet off the trail. Then we turned around, I made it over the garden hose, and made it home. We reattached my basket and threw my stuff in the washer.
Oh I love that it is light out until 10:00PM now and that it is light when I get out of bed at 6:00AM.

Couch to 5K
So after my doctor told be to lose some weight, I decided I would start running... again. I did for about a year and a half in high school when trying to get on the volleyball team. I found a program online called couch to 5K in nine weeks (more info here http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml). Monday was my first night. I did a five minute warm up then jogged for 60 seconds, walked for 90 seconds. I also found a pod cast that Mike downloaded for me which really helped. The pod cast has music and then when you are supposed to switch from a jog to a walk etc a voice on the ipod says "5, 4, 3, 2, 1." (I found the music here http://gonicoleyourself.blogspot.com/2008/06/couch-to-5k-podcast-page.html) There are quite a few other spots like this too if you search c5k pod cast. So my "plan" is to run 3 days a week and to do the elliptical/lift for at least 2 days a week. However last night after running/walking for 25 minutes I also did a stair stepper type thingy for 20 minutes! The doctor says I "should lose" 20-25 pounds to be at an ideal weight but I am aiming to lose more like 15 for now. I will keep you posted!

New Baby

Our friends Samantha and Hans called us at 6:30 this morning! Samantha woke up and her water broke, they are at the hospital now. They are both very excited and Samantha is glad to be done being pregnant. (Apparently a lot of babies want to see the world today because they got the last Labor and Delivery room in the Hospital.) We are so excited to meet Jacob Christopher. I pray that her labor and delivery goes smooth, fast and safe. I will post pictures once he is born, hopefully today!!
