3 years

Happy Third Anniversary Mike!  These last three years have flown by.  I can not believe we have moved from Alaska to North Dakota.  Bought a House.  And are now having a baby! Can't wait to see what the next 3, 5, 10, and 50 years bring!

One Year Seven Months

It has been one year and seven months since Callen has not been with us. It still sucks. Most of the time I do ok and go on living life in a “new normal,” but then sometimes it hits me that he is not coming back. It sucks now that Mike and I are going to have a baby; that our child will NEVER EVER get to know their Uncle Callen. I know he would be the crazy uncle too. Teaching them to play instruments and taking them on adventures. I know our child will always know of Callen but they will never experience a Callen hug or hear in person his infectious laugh.

The holidays coming up will be hard also. Last year Mike and I were in Alaska by ourselves and could somewhat ignore that Callen was missing from the festivities. There will be no way of ignoring it this year. Mom and Dad are coming to our house for Thanksgiving, Callen will not. Mike and I are going to Minnesota around Christmas Callen will not be there to welcome us. The holidays will be like this from now on. Our child and any future children will never have cousins on my side. Of course I am close to my cousins and their children will be like cousins to ours but never TRUE cousins. Thankfully our child will have plenty of cousins on Mike side, currently 3 with another one due in November. But my side it will only be our children. This makes me sad.

I know Callen would want us all to go on with life and be happy. Doing what makes us happy and spreading his love. So I try my hardest to push on.

15 weeks

At fifteen weeks I am starting to show, just a little bit.  We are starting to buy a few things for the baby.  The first things we bought was a couple books for the nursery including One fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and The Lorax. And we have decided to go with the theme of One fish Two fish for the nursery.  We got this to put in the nursery
We plan to put it above the crib.

Then today I ordered our first two or three cloth diapers!  Yes I know some people think that I am a little crazy for choosing to use or even try cloth diapers.  I have done my research.  Not only is it much healthier for our baby's skin, but it keeps diapers out of the landfill and keeps money in our pockets.  If you are interested in learning more about cloth diapers I encourage you to look here http://www.jilliansdrawers.com/newtocloth There is a ton of information.

The first diaper that I ordered was off of Baby Steals dot com.  It is a Bum Cheeks Diaper. It is shown on the right. It can fit babies from 8 to 35 pounds, changing the snaps from small to large as shown below.
The second diaper I ordered is a Bum Genius.  These are the diapers I know the most about I "think" we will really like them but ordered one to make sure.
The final diaper I ordered is more to make some cute burp clothes for blueberry but can also be used as diapers.  I got 6 of the traditional Indian Prefold cloth diapers.  Although these days they do not need a safety pin, there is a little devise called a Snappi that you can use.  Unlike the Bum Cheeks and Bum Genius diapers a Prefold diaper requires a cover to waterproof it, the other two diapers have built in water barriers.

Finally in baby news I had an appointment on Friday.  The heart rate was 154, my blood pressure, weight, and urine were all good!!  Our next appointment is October 6th and it is the big one!  We get our ultrasound.

Great weekend

Wow Mike and I had another great weekend!  Mom and Dad got here around 1 on Friday.  And got right to work.

On Friday Dad and Mike installed a new water heater and started to replace the 2 prong outlets with 3 prong outlets on the main level. The water heater went in fast... the outlets were a bit more challenging and were left half done.  When they were done we had Alaskan Halibut and Asparagus for dinner.  Then sat in the red bathroom for over an hour trying to decide on how best to redo it.

Saturday morning we ate the Berry Good French Toast Bake Mom and I had made Friday.   (http://lonesomehollow.com/recipes/dish/berry-good-french-toast-bake/)  It was really really yummy.  Then Dad and Mike got to work again!  They installed the new chandelier in the dinning room.  Then installed 3 new ceiling fans up stairs, one in each bedroom.  The boys also finished the electrical work on the first floor.  Mom and I went to the few garage sales there were around town.  We did not find much but we did find a glider for the nursery for only $30!!  I was not planning on getting a glider but for $30 vs $500 at the furniture store, I could not say no and it will look good in the nursery.  We also went to Ashley Furniture and Mom and Dad bought us (Mike, Me and Blueberry)  a new recliner as their shower gift for blueberry.  It should be to town in about 2 weeks.  It is soooo comfy.  Saturday night we had Grandma O over for dinner.  And then watched How to Train Your Dragon.  Well mom and dad did, Mike and I slept though most of it.

Sunday we got up and went to the 9:30 church service.  Then came home and got to work...again.  Dad sealed some opening on the outside of the house, they put up a new light in the back yard, put a new lock on the shed, brought our kayak over from Grandma O's, snaked out a couple of drains in the basement and by the laundry and tried to fix our basement shower.   The basement shower just needs to but ripped out and redone, well the whole bathroom does but it will work until the red bath is redone in November.

Today we got up had a few muffins talked a bit.  Then made a list of things both Dad and Mike need to get or get done befroe November so we are ready for the bathroom redo. Dad and Mike hung a shelf up in our bedroom and I moved a picture.  Then it was time to say good bye.  I think Cora and Willow were the saddest to say good bye.  They play so well together and wear each other out for the most part.

I can't wait for Mom, Dad and Willow to come back in November!
